Groningen-based startup Tispa Medical has signed a Joint Ownership Agreement with Isala Ziekenhuizen to remove xylene and formalin from the pathology lab within the hospitals.

Due to its harmful effects on the environment, formalin has already been banned in the Netherlands. Hospitals however form the exception: under permit, the carcinogenic substance can be used. The Tispa Tissue Processor from Tispa Medical is known for its xylene free process using CO2 technology, but can add formalin free tissue processing as well. This new method makes tissue processing safer, faster and more sustainable: a huge benefit for everyone involved in pathology.
