RECELL IN THE ASPHALT AT RWZI HARLINGEN

WWTP Harlingen 

Recell cellulose has been used in the new asphalt for WWTP (RWZI) Harlingen, together with recycled asphalt and linseed oil. One of the Recell production sites is located at the WWTP in Geestmerambacht. Here, Recell’s Cellvation technique is used to regain and upcycle cellulose from waste streams. The cellulose that has been recovered from one treatment plant is used in the asphalt of another, circularity at its best. Recell is truly the new generation of cellulose. 

Recell Group

The Recell Group has been frontrunner in Europe when it comes to reprocessing tertiary cellulose into Recell. The company developed the so-called Cellvation technology. This technology enables the extraction of cellulose from waste, turning unused complex waste streams into new raw material. Whereas cellulose normally would have been extracted from trees and plants, Recell recovers it from waste that in the past would have been incinerated. Recell cellulose brands have an ECI value and CO2 footprint of practically 0, making it a win-win situation for customers. The cellulose is given unique properties and is currently used in the infrastructure, bio-composites and chemistry-sectors, but has a lot more applications. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.
