5 Years of Corina Prent

This September marks the 5th year anniversary of Corina Prent as head of RUG Ventures. In the past 5 years, RUG Ventures has successfully invested over 40 startups employing over 600 people, and offering working experience to about 1200 students. Furthermore, at least 25 joint projects have been set up in collaboration with the northern knowledge institutes. After carefully laying the foundation of what RUG Ventures is today, it is now time to come to the fore, generating even more impact for society at large. Corina Prent: “Together with my founders, we are using our imagination to build ventures that are able to transform fundamental science into applications with significant impact”

Our company could not have been what it is today without the help of all of those who put their hearts and souls into the company. We would specifically like to thank Hoang Nguyen, Wilma Pals, Ignacio Faustino, Deepak Veeregowda, Sem Blokland, Danai Psathas, Joep van de Ven and Eldert Elzinga for their tireless support throughout these years. Also, we would like to thank the Board of the University of Groningen as our shareholder who have supported the changes in the ecosystem required to achieve the current results. Although RUG Ventures is an entirely independent company, it remains invaluable to have the support of a top 100 university right by our side. Last but not least, we would like to thank our informal advisory board for their continuous help in making the right decisions. Without all of you, we would not have been able to make the impact we do now.

What’s next? It is up to our imagination, the start of every scientific entrepreneurial journey.
